Shabbat!

We spent the week learning about Shabbat!  We talked about how Hashem rested on Shabbat after working hard all week to create the world, so we rest on Shabbat.  We don't turn on lights, go in the car, or watch tv.

We love grapes!  We practiced sorting red and green grapes.

We used toilet paper rolls to stamp purple circles to make bunches of grapes.

We glued purple circles onto a grape pattern.

Then we did a taste test, where each child tasted a red and a green grape, and we charted what they liked better.  Red won by one!

We talked about how we squeeze grapes to make grape juice, and everyone had the chance to squeeze them!!!

After we squeezed all the juice through a strainer, we made a bracha and got to drink our homemade grapejuice.  Yummy!

We also practiced pouring grape juice into cups, and then used a funnel to pour it back into the bottle.

We decorated our bulletin board, gluing aluminum foil to make 2 candlesticks...

Painting 2 brown challahs...

Painting water on bleeding tissue paper to make 1 bottle of grape juice.

Besides making grape juice, we got to "make" challah out of playdough.  We practiced rolling 3 strands, and braiding them together.

We also practiced counting to 3 by matching "raisins" on challahs.

We painted challah covers, using stencils to write Shabbat, and sponges of kiddush cups and challah.

We made a special sign with the bracha for the candles.  First, we used the wicks of real candles to paint yellow and orange candles.

Then we glued sequins onto foam paper.

After practicing making the Bracha, we glued the candles, bracha and pictures on the foam paper.  We hope you like final product (it's going home tomorrow).

We learned that sometimes we decorate our Shabbat table with flowers, so we made flowers out of tissue paper, and decorated vases to put our flowers in.

We hope you enjoy all the Shabbat treats!

Shabbat shalom, and have a wonderful break!
