Community Helpers Continued...

We had so many community helpers visit us during this unit! Last Friday we had a visit from the firemen as well as Dr. Jessica, the dentist.  We learned all about the special clothing firemen wear in a fire, and had a chance to climb on the firetruck!

We then did our own open art project, gluing shapes to make a firetruck, and dot paint firemen.

We then had a visit from Dr. Jessica, who taught us how important it is to brush our teeth twice a day!

On Monday, we practiced "brushing" our teeth with white paint, and flossing our "teeth" to get the playdough out from the lego pieces.

We learned how important the mailman is, how he takes letters for us to anywhere in the world!  We colored Feel Better cards for sick children for Chai Lifeline, and put them in our classroom "mailbox."  We are still waiting for the mailman to come pick them up!

We also made our own mail trucks!

On Wednesday, we learned about construction workers and their tools.  We colored different tools, painted a tool belt, and used velcro to attach them the tools to our belts!  We can't wait to wear them home tomorrow.

We had a visit from Tony, who brought his tools to show us how he uses them to fix things in the school.

We had fun playing with our own tools in the classroom.

We also used a tape measure to measure different things in the classroom. When we finished that, we had a chance to measure how tall we all are!

Our last visitors of the week were lifeguards! They told us about how they help protect us on the beach, whether it's to let us know that the water isn't safe, or to help us if we can't swim.

They showed us the different floats they use, some soft, some hard, and some big enough to help a lot of people at once!

We learned the importance of wearing a life vest that fits properly.

Then we each had a chance to go on the wave runner!

We learned the letter zayin - zipper - this week.  We practiced making a zayin with playdough, had fun zipping zippers and made zayin puppets.

And, of course, we had fun with Morah Danit!

What a busy week!  Shabbat Shalom!
